Katy Perry's "E.T." is getting booted from the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts this week, but the pop star probably doesn't care one bit about moving down to No. 2.
Even with a song in the second spot she'll become the first artist in history to spend a consecutive 52 weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100!
Her epic year on the Billboard 100 charts began the week of May 29, 2010 with her hit "California Gurls" and the starlet continued her streak with the help of hits like "Teenage Dream" and "Firework" over the last few months. Now "E.T." has poised her for the Billboard 100 record.
Billboard reported that no other artist in the Billboard Hot 100 chart's 50 years has accomplished that feat. The last group to come close to the record was Ace of Base, which had 48 consecutive weeks in the top 10 with their hits like "The Sign" in the early '90s. Mariah Carey has also come close.
