Your first file download could be your last
If you are just upgrading your phone to an iPhone or android, the chances are that you already know what your first file download will be. Millions of users regularly download apps and iTunes, an amazing statistic given how young the industry is. While it's great to have the latest phone, and of course the latest tunes, don't get so excited that you forget to protect yourself.
Unless you are downloading from a well known site, it's just as easy to pick up a virus when all you want is Lady Gaga. Just because your friend has downloaded apps or tunes without any problem, doesn't mean that it is safe for you to do so.
A virus only takes a second to infect your phone and pretty soon all of your contacts will get infected as well. Although it's tempting to share iTunes and apps with your friends, it really isn't worth it. Not just because it's illegal, but the threat of malware really is high. Do you really want to infect your computer while syncing your phone? The downloads are really cheap so don't take the chance.
